About the talk

Grief-tech, deadbots, a growing digital afterlife industry, and even-greater entanglement of our virtual and physical worlds.

Join us for an evening of short talks, drinks and chatting, exploring themes of identity, mortality and morality in three short talks on the theme of Artificial Intelligence, Life & Death.

We’ll be joined by expert speakers exploring the ethical and social implications of the growing digital afterlife industry, responsible design in ‘grief-tech’, and the consequences of our ever-blending of virtual and physical worlds.

Programme
Speakers

Marlynn Wei, MD, JD

Yale- and Harvard-trained holistic psychiatrist, interdisciplinary artist, author, and founder of 'The Psychology of AI' newsletter. Dr. Wei's work on Elixir AI, an ongoing, participatory thought-experience, is a powerful and profoundly human exploration of the prospect of digital immortality.

Cennydd Bowles

Technology ethicist, interaction designer, author of 'Future Ethics', and recent Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Elon University. Cennydd's work has informed the values and practices of technologists and designers across the world, and inspired a more intentional and meaningful way to approach building tech.

Jonathan Stein

Researcher and technology writer. Jonathan's work and writings bring a much needed and often overlooked philosophical perspective to conversations on digital and AI, questioning what it means to be human in the face of a growing digital afterlife industry.
